HS Design (HSD) was once again selected as a supplier to a finalist for two 2013 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) for the BioNano Genomics' Irys and the Ambio Remote Health Monitoring System. This year's supplier nomination is HSD's fourth in just two years—after ultimately winning two MDEA supplier awards in 2012.
The BioNano Genomics' Irys Genomics Platform was recognized in the In Vitro Diagnostics category. Irys reveals genome architecture in its native state, thereby adding a completely new repertoire to the genomics tool kit. The Irys System allows researchers and clinicians to access meaningful biological information that can be disrupted or completely lost during sample analysis via next-generation sequencing or microarrays. Earlier and more effective disease diagnosis translates directly into significantly lower treatment costs, less invasive diagnostic procedures, and more effective and successful outcomes.
The Ambio Remote Health Monitoring System, manufactured by Arrayent Health LLC, dba Ambio Health, was named a finalist in the Rehabilitation and Assistive-technology Products Category. Patients with chronic diseases can use this remote health monitoring device from their home, sharing important information with their physicians and other authorized health partners.The Ambio system wirelessly and automatically sends readings from various health meters, including blood pressure, blood glucose, weight scale and motion sensors, to a web-based Care Portal used by patients and their authorized providers. Remote health monitoring has been shown to significantly reduce hospitalizations and emergency room visits in patients with chronic diseases.
